Allow me to introduce myself!

My name is Lilian Hall. I am a level 3 qualified Suzuki violin and viola teacher, a member of the British Suzuki Institute and the European Suzuki Association, and a member of the Cambridge Suzuki Group.

I started teaching Suzuki violin in 2011 and now have a thriving studio. I offer individual and group lessons, and hold a concert once a term in which all my students enjoy making music together.

I’ve been playing in orchestras and chamber groups for over forty years, and during the time my son and daughter were growing up I assisted with the school and youth orchestras they attended — both were members of the National Children’s Orchestra, and my son is now an ABRSM-qualified cello teacher.

In 2010 a friend suggested I should look into the Suzuki method, and after sitting in on lessons and observing at residential courses I became so convinced of its effectiveness — not just at enabling children to make beautiful music, but also at helping them develop in all sorts of positive ways — that I decided to abandon my long-standing career as a translator and retrain as a Suzuki teacher. I’ve never regretted doing so, as I now have the daily privilege of seeing children from as young as two or three grow in confidence and ability as they play their first tunes, and observing my older, more advanced students tackle and master ever more complex pieces.
